#TBT ATSER’s Past Projects
Thursdays are for all the Throwbacks!
Did you know that ATSER has been behind the success of multiple major #construction projects around the United States? Starting every Thursday, we will be highlighting these major projects one by one. We want to kick off our highlight reel with NRG Energy (formerly Reliant) Stadium located right here in Houston, Texas.
ATSER was retained by the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation in a joint-venture with Schindewolf Associates to provide Owner’s Representative services for the new NFL Stadium in Houston. ATSER provided #ProgramandConstructionManagement services for the new $449 million Reliant Stadium (now NRG). This new Stadium included a seating capacity of 69,500 and a retractable roof. The new facility adjoined the west side of the Astrodome. The project included an aggressive 32-month schedule that targeted an August 2002 completion date. ATSER provided services during the design phase as well as the construction phase. Our responsibilities included coordination of the design consultant team, value engineering, design review as well as coordination with two major tenants, bid package strategy, status reports, decision recommendations to the owner, and review of the consultant’s requests for additional services. Also included in our duties were the review and approval of monthly pay requests, quality assurance inspections, monitoring of the project schedule, taking those actions necessary to complete the project on schedule, the review, and approval of any change order requests including negotiations as necessary. Additionally, during the construction phase, we were responsible for coordinating the activities of the #ConstructionManager. Today, NRG Stadium serves as the home to the Houston Texans, RODEOHOUSTON concerts, collegiate football games, and many other events throughout the year.
