The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) was charged with the task of reconstructing 17 miles of Interstate 25 and installing 19.5 miles of light rail into the heart of Denver, Colorado. The greatest challenge was to minimize the disruption of traffic flow into and through the city. CDOT selected the design-build construction delivery method to enable compression of the construction schedule by 60%. This required immediate feedback on construction quality in order to minimize the occurrence of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) that would impede the orderly progress of work.
