Institutions of higher learning in the United States typically sprang from humble, single structure beginnings in the 19th and early 20th century to today’s sprawling campuses of as much as 200+ buildings covering 10,000 or more acres.   School districts have likewise grown over the past two centuries but unlike most college campuses the school district footprint can contain the same number of buildings stretched across over 200 or more square miles.  Whether it’s an elementary school or a college classroom these building house one of our country’s most precious resources – the minds and bodies of our children.
