Over the past 25 years scientific management principles have been espoused by management consultants in an effort to make American business more effective and efficient.  From Deming’s Quality Improvement to Hammer’s Business Process Reengineering most have promised significant impacts yet few initiatives have delivered on their promises because the technology did not yet exist to enable realization of the dream.

ATSER has focused on applying scientific management principles to engineering management systems to enable more effective and efficient management of large programs.  These programs typically involve multiple projects with individual budgets, conflicting schedules and stringent administration requirements. ATSER has developed algorithms for trending analysis that allows for a proactive response to issues instead of being reactive, which can considerably reduce project costs.  Furthermore, these projects normally include not only engineering but also construction activities.  ATSER has devoted years of methodological observations of the project management discipline and translated those observations into a comprehensive suite of software to enable automation of not just individual project management activities but also Program Management of multiple projects.

When Automate-IT™ is fully implemented the entire project data sets for the program portfolio resides on a single data repository.  As tasks are completed throughout the day the Virtual Administrator automatically tracks changes and updates the database in real-time.  It also serves as the coordinating mechanism for automation of daily manual tasks. Finally, it serves to coordinate all program changes throughout the enterprise.

At the heart of Automate-IT™ it is Manage-IT™; three separate but integrated applications. The first of these is Track-IT™ our web-based document management system.  Track-IT™ helps coordinate activities between owners, designers and contractors and enable better workspace project collaboration.  The second application is Construct-IT which extends contract information such as budgets and schedule information to both contractors and owners.  It also gives the program manager and the individual project managers the capability to manage the entire project lifecycle from pre-planning to planning to design through construction and operation and maintenance.  The final application that makes up Manage-IT™ is Assure-IT™. Designed to address the quality leg of the Project triangle, Assure-IT™ interfaces with third party testing labs centralizing all lab/field data for material acceptance and enabling real-time statistical analysis of that data. Resting on top of the Manage-IT™ suite is our customized executive dashboard called View-IT™ which enables the program manager and owner to track key performance indicators in real-time.
